(Description): mednarodni sistem merskih enot, SI,
(okrajšava iz francoščine SI = Le
Systeme International d'Unités) je sodobna oblika metričnega sistema in
navadno temelji na številki 10. Sistem SI se je leta 1960 razvil iz starega
sistema meter-kilogram-sekunda (mks) in ne iz sistema centimeter-gram-sekunda
(cgs). Sistem SI ni statičen, zato se merske enote in njihove definicije
razvijajo z mednarodnimi dogovori z državami, v skladu z napredkom merskih
tehnologij in z izboljšano natančnostjo meritev. ZDA in Velika Britanija
poleg SI-enot še uporabljajo številne stare merske enote. Vsebina:

Description
(Opis): The
International System of Units (abbreviated SI from the French Le Systeme
International d'Unités) is the modern form of the metric system and is
generally a system devised around the convenience of the number 10. The SI was
developed in 1960 from the old metre-kilogram-second (mks) system, rather than
the centimetre-gram-second (cgs) system, which, in turn, had a few variants.
Because the SI is not static units are created and definitions are modified
through international agreement among many nations as the technology of
measurement progresses, and as the precision of measurements improves. United
States and United Kingdom still uses many old units in addition to SI.
